Haribo has issued a recall for its Happy Cola F!ZZ sweets in the Netherlands after cannabis was detected in at least three bags of the product. The recall affects 1 kilo bags with a best-before date of January 2026. Authorities like the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) recommended returning the affected products due to potential health risks. Haribo is collaborating with Dutch authorities to investigate how cannabis got into the candies, prioritizing consumer safety in this unfolding situation.
"There are bags in circulation with sweets that can lead to health complaints, such as dizziness, when consumed," said NVWA spokesperson Saida Ahyad.
"The safety of our consumers is our highest priority and Haribo takes this incident very seriously," Haribo's vice president of marketing, Patrick Tax, told the AFP news agency.
