Trump Threatens Governor' Justin Trudeau With Even Higher Tariffs as Trade War Heats Up
Briefly

President Trump has threatened to increase tariffs on Canadian exports following Prime Minister Trudeau's condemnation of his 25% tariffs imposed on Canadian goods. Trudeau’s remarks described the trade war initiated by the U.S. as 'very dumb' while announcing retaliatory tariffs on $155 billion worth of American products. Despite facing criticism, Trump assured that while inflation may rise temporarily due to tariffs, it would ultimately benefit the U.S. economy in the long term, asserting that job growth would compensate for any price increases.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Trudeau expressed his discontent at Trump's decision to finally impose a 25% tariff on Canadian goods, calling it a very dumb thing to do.
Canadians are reasonable and we are polite but we will not back down from a fight, not when our country and the well-being of everyone in it is at stake.
Trump responded on Truth Social with the following message: Please explain to Governor Trudeau, of Canada, that when he puts on a Retaliatory Tariff on the U.S., our Reciprocal Tariff will immediately increase by a like amount!
I think what's going to go up is jobs are going to go up, and prices could go up somewhat short-term, but prices will also go down... long-term, it's going to make our country a fortune.
