Residents in Jane and Finch launched the Repairs Can't Wait campaign to demand proper enforcement of RentSafeTO and faster responses to housing complaints. Tenants met with ACORN Toronto at York Woods Library to report mold, pest infestations, leaks and incomplete repairs, and to raise concerns about inspection transparency and landlord accountability. Many tenants report insufficient support from city staff after contacting 311. RentSafeTO began in 2017 to enforce maintenance standards. Residents say city inspectors need more training and qualifications to effectively review buildings. ACORN intervened in some cases to issue work orders after prolonged delays.
