Shooting of Ontario Provincial Police officer captured by his body camera, Crown tells murder trial | CBC News
Briefly

The first-degree murder trial for Randall McKenzie and Brandi Stewart-Sperry has begun, centering on the shooting of Const. Greg Pierzchala in December 2022. The Crown intends to present a redacted body camera footage showing the incident. On the day of the shooting, Pierzchala had just completed his probation period with the OPP. Eyewitnesses described their attempts to help McKenzie and Stewart-Sperry, who ended up in a ditch, prior to the officer arriving and ultimately being shot. The trial is expected to last six weeks.
"The Crown alleges while McKenzie pulled the trigger, Stewart-Sperry helped him, with Const. Pierzchala being the last to stop and offer assistance before being shot."
"Crown prosecutor Fraser McKracken mentioned that the footage will depict the moment of the shooting as Pierzchala responded to aid the defendants in a ditch incident."
