The national rent report data shows a 5.9 per cent increase in asking rents in July compared to last year, the slowest rise in the past 31 months.
Provinces with initially lower rents are experiencing the fastest rent increases, contrary to expectations, while Ontario and British Columbia saw decreases in rent year-over-year.
