Hannah Miller, a prominent player for the Toronto Sceptres in the PWHL, has been ruled ineligible for the Team Canada roster for the upcoming world championship due to her previous participation with the Chinese national team. Although she delivered an outstanding season with 24 points in 26 games, her past international involvement places her under the IIHF's two-year eligibility restriction. Team Canada general manager, Gina Kingsbury, expressed disappointment but remains optimistic for her future with the national team, reflecting on her hard work and strong performances this season.
"The IIHF stipulates a two-year timeline from when Miller last played overseas in order for her to be eligible to play for Canada," the statement says.
"Hannah has worked hard this season, earned a spot on our roster and we will look forward to future opportunities for her to wear the Maple Leaf," said GM Gina Kingsbury.
