Porter Airlines plane slides off tarmac after landing in heavy snow at Halifax airport | CBC News
"You could feel something was wrong because it was sliding. It really was sliding and tried to take a turn and the plane decided it wasn't going, right? So, yeah, plane got off the runway or taxiway or whatever they want to call it. And yeah, we got stuck."
"spinning out of control,"
"Visibility was zero, was really, really bad. You could barely see like a feet in front of you. The snow was so bad and the wind was so bad,"
"I think it should have been delayed or cancelled, to be honest with you."
A Porter Airlines flight from Toronto slid off the runway into snow after landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport during heavy snow and near-zero visibility. The aircraft became stuck after losing traction while attempting to turn. Crews plowed a path and attempted to tow the plane but initial efforts failed. An initial attempt to bring boarding stairs failed when the stairs began spinning out of control. Passengers remained on board for about two hours before buses transported them to the terminal. Eventually stairs were brought and all passengers disembarked. No significant injuries were reported and the runway remained closed pending aircraft removal.
