Officers responded in the early hours of Aug. 31 to a reported home invasion near Andreeta Drive and Barons Street. They found 46-year-old Abdul Aleem Farooqi suffering from "trauma to his body" and he was pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts. Police previously said they were looking for at least three male suspects. Political leaders and close friends reported that Farooqi was shot in front of his children.
