Interfaith prayer walks took place across 16 Toronto police divisions, led by Canadian Black Clergies and Allies and the police community partnerships and engagement unit. The events aimed to raise awareness, strengthen relationships between police and local faith leaders, and promote the theme “unity in community.” Police note that gun violence is down compared with last year, yet several recent homicides involve youth accused. Participants marched to the site of a June 3 mass shooting in Lawrence Heights where one man was killed and five others injured, and leaders framed the walks as demonstrations of hope, solidarity and trust-building.
