PM Carney meeting with premiers today before expected Sunday election call | CBC News
Briefly

Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to convene a meeting with Canada's premiers at the Canadian War Museum to discuss interprovincial trade, a critical matter amid heightened trade tensions with the U.S. following the imposition of tariffs by President Trump. This meeting, held just before a federal election is expected to be called, aims to tackle the challenges imposed by U.S. trade policies and unify Canada's economic stance. Premier Doug Ford, along with several other premiers, will attend to collaborate on creating a cohesive Canadian economy.
He committed during his leadership campaign that he would work with the premiers to do so and would convene a first ministers' meeting at the earliest opportunity, which has now been scheduled for this coming Friday.
This meeting will be a chance for all premiers and Prime Minister Carney to discuss the work ahead, including how they will work collaboratively to create one Canadian economy, instead of 13.
