Melinda Tarantino, a Burlington mom, explained her experience, saying: "I bought the tickets last month from someone who appeared to be a local woman... I jumped at the opportunity. I told the girls, 'if she comes to Canada, we'll get tickets.'"
The Halton Regional Police Service reported they have received around 40 complaints regarding ticket scams and stated that the total loss amounts to over $70,000, highlighting the widespread nature of the fraud.
A police official mentioned that they are investigating the ticket fraud case, stating: "The financial crimes unit is investigating and no arrests have been made," emphasizing the ongoing efforts to address the situation.
Tarantino expressed her profound disappointment, noting: "While the situation 'sucks', it's heartbreaking to think how excited my daughters were about the concert, only to find out the tickets weren't real."
