The Ontario Liberal Party has unanimously backed Bonnie Crombie to remain as party leader following her loss in the recent election. Despite not winning a seat in the legislature, Crombie was praised for her effective leadership, helping the party regain status after seven years by capturing 14 seats. Crombie expressed pride and gratitude for the support of her caucus, noting a palpable momentum within the team. Having been elected leader in December 2023 while serving as Mississauga's mayor, Crombie aims to guide the party forward post-election.
"I am so proud of this Caucus, and grateful to have their support," Crombie said in a news release Saturday. "Our team's momentum is undeniable, you could feel it in the room."
The party says it commends Crombie for her leadership during the snap election after the Liberals regained party status for the first time in seven years, winning 14 seats.
