More than one hundred members of Toronto's Iranian community held rallies at Simcoe Park and Mel Lastman Square to support anti-government protests in Iran. Demonstrators sang, chanted "Be their voice!", waved flags and held photos of loved ones while saying they keep a close eye on Tehran and stand in solidarity with relatives. Organizer Mehrdokht Hadi said protesters in Iran have returned to the streets calling for democracy and freedom and that the government has shut down the internet, warning such shutdowns precede massacres like November 2019. At least 65 people have been killed, more than 2,300 detained, international calls blocked, and Canada strongly condemns the violence.
