McIntosh captures Canadian record in women's 200m butterfly at national trials in Victoria | CBC Sports
Briefly

On Day 4 of the Canadian Swimming trials, Summer McIntosh, the 18-year-old sensation from Toronto, broke the Canadian record in the women's 200m butterfly with a time of 2:02.26. This impressive performance not only secured her a new personal best but also placed her as the second-best swimmer in history for the event. While celebrating her success, McIntosh noted areas for improvement in her technique and expressed her determination to chase the world record. She has already achieved multiple records throughout the trials, demonstrating her exceptional talent and dominance in competitive swimming.
I actually think I rank this race higher than some of my other ones. I would almost rate it higher than the 200m IM just because I think this world record is the hardest one to get.
I think my last stroke was just a little bit wonky, so I think I have at least point-one, point-two in that alone. I can definitely find the other little bits and pieces throughout the race.
The fact that I'm knocking on the door on that world record is really, really encouraging because that's the world record that I never thought I would even come close to.
McIntosh has scratched the 200m backstroke from competition to focus on her upcoming races for the women's 400m individual medley and the 200m freestyle.
