'I was picking up litter outside station - then TfL staff called the police on me'
Briefly

Giuliano Orrico, a 55-year-old children's football coach, has dedicated himself to keeping Golders Green clean since 2018 by collecting litter voluntarily. In May, while managing his initiative, he was confronted by transport staff who called the police, surprising him. Orrico aims to involve local youth in his campaign to promote environmental awareness and proper waste disposal, highlighting that issues with litter extend beyond his community to places like Italy. He's determined to engage schools and encourage young children to participate, acknowledging the shared responsibility in caring for our environment.
A man stopped me and made me talk to a manager and he called the police. I asked him 'am I doing a crime?' and they did nothing.
I encourage and engage youth to help me and they are very keen and willing, even children who are three years old, they want to use the pickers.
It's an important campaign. It's an issue that's everywhere. Even in Italy there are problems with this. People have no respect for the environment.
