""They're popping the inflatables," Patriquin said."
""When I got to the front door...there was a person on the other side of the front door," Patriquin said."
""The person on the side of the door has a hammer, and he's literally swinging violently the hammer to make sure that he tears this inflatable off the roof and catastrophically destroyed every single one of the inflatables.""
"Patriquin said the display had "become a source of pride and community spirit" and the house has been known as "the house with the inflatables.""
Masked vandals armed with hammers attacked and destroyed a large Christmas inflatable display on a Scarborough front lawn around 2 a.m. The display included Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus, Rudolph, an Abominable Snowman and a nativity scene and had been installed annually for nearly a decade. A car stopped, occupants exited and began puncturing and tearing the inflatables while a homeowner and his son watched. Doorbell camera footage captured a person at the front door swinging a hammer and two roof-hung inflatables were slashed. The incident was reported to the Toronto police.
