A special weather statement issued by Environment Canada forecasts heavy rain across the Greater Toronto Area, including Halton Hills, Toronto, and Oshawa, with rainfall amounts up to 50 millimetres. A low pressure system over southern Ontario north of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario is expected to bring the heavy rain. The rain is expected to slowly turn to drizzle as the system moves from west to east, starting early Saturday night and continuing into Sunday morning. Temperatures are forecast around 13 C Saturday with a low near 10 C, then 21 C Sunday with a low near 12 C. Flooding is not expected at local watersheds, but water levels will rise and flow faster at rivers and streams. Residents are advised to avoid riverbanks and shorelines, especially with children and pets.
"Flooding is not expected at local watersheds despite the forecast, said the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority in a watershed condition statement. However, it said water levels will rise and flow faster at rivers and streams. The conservation authority warned residents to avoid riverbanks and shorelines, especially if they are with children and pets."
