"Commuters can sigh in relief as it appears their GO train woes are nearly at an end. Metrolinx says full service is expected to resume Saturday morning. Friday marks the fifth day of reduced service after a derailed train caused havoc on train schedules and delayed thousands of commuters. Since Monday, people taking GO Transit have faced countless delays and cancellations even with the modified train scheduling."
"Trains will run on the following special schedule all day on Friday: Lakeshore East: 60-minute service, outside of 1530-minute peak service windows. Lakeshore West: 60-minute service, outside of 1530-minute peak service windows. UP Express: regular 15-minute interval service. Kitchener: 60-minute service, outside of 30-minute peak service windows. Milton: 30-minute service during peak service hours. Richmond Hill: 60-minute morning and afternoon peak service. Stouffville: 30-minute morning and afternoon peak service. Barrie: 30-minute morning and afternoon peak service."
Full GO Transit service is expected to resume Saturday. A GO train leaving Union Station at low speed Monday morning derailed and made contact with a track switch, causing "signal system disruptions" and "considerable service impacts." Five days of reduced service followed, resulting in widespread delays and cancellations. Trains operated on a special Friday schedule with Lakeshore East and West on 60-minute service outside peak windows, UP Express at 15-minute intervals, Kitchener on 60-minute outside peak, Milton at 30-minute peak service, and Richmond Hill, Stouffville and Barrie on peak service. Commuters impacted by Monday's incident are eligible for refunds via online claims. Metrolinx expressed appreciation for customer patience.
