Former Ontario student pleads guilty in U.S. terrorism case | CBC News
"Khan was planning a mass shooting at a Jewish centre in Brooklyn in support of ISIS, meant to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel."
"His plea makes it 'unequivocally clear' that 'terrorism and other hate-based violence have zero place in New York City,' according to Jay Clayton, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York."
Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, a Pakistani citizen living in Mississauga, pleaded guilty in a U.S. federal court to attempting an act of terrorism. He was arrested near the U.S. border in September 2024 and extradited in June 2025. An FBI investigation revealed Khan's plan for a mass shooting at a Jewish centre in Brooklyn, timed with the anniversary of the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison, with sentencing scheduled for August.
