Fire crews expected to continue fighting Thorncliffe Park blaze into next week, city says | CBC News
"Toronto fire crews are expected to continue batting a complex fire in Thorncliffe Park into next week, according to the city. In a statement Tuesday, the city said Toronto Fire Services is still working on a fire at two connected condos at 11 Thorncliffe Park Dr. and 21 Overlea Blvd. The fire was discovered last Thursday, when insulation was found to be burning in between the walls of buildings. The fire has displaced residents in the buildings and many are now staying in hotel rooms while they wait to be told when they can return."
""As firefighting efforts remain ongoing, we anticipate a phased approach will be required for residents to safely return to occupying their units. As the fire is still active, we do not yet have a timeline for this yet," the city said in the statement. The city said residents are required to work with their insurance providers to determine what supports are available to them. The city said it will work with property owners and tenants "with extenuating circumstances." On Monday, the Canadian Red Cross said it is supporting 141 households, consisting of 293 residents with 117 hotel rooms, as firefighting efforts continue."
