Elderly couple found dead in their home in Cork named locally
Briefly

A couple was found deceased in their home after a relative's concern led to forced entry. Emergency services pronounced them dead at the scene. Investigations revealed no evidence of foul play or gas leaks. Gardaí are considering a fall or medical incident as possible causes of death. The couple, last contacted on Sunday evening, have been described as quiet and respected individuals in their village, and prayers were said for them during a local mass. Postmortem examinations will guide further investigation.
There was no evidence of a gas leak. Nor was there anything to suggest they had met their deaths via foul play.
Gardaí are examining the possibility that the deaths may have occurred as a result of a fall.
One of the parties possibly sustained a fall or experienced a medical incident with the other also being fatally injured whilst going to their assistance.
Prayers were said for Mr and Mrs O'Sullivan at a mass in the area this morning. The couple were described as being "very quiet people" who were respected in the village.
