Tumbler Ridge, a remote mining town in British Columbia, held a candlelight vigil after a deadly shooting at the local secondary school that left five children and an educator dead. Authorities say the alleged shooter killed her mother and 11-year-old step-brother at home before opening fire at the school and later killing herself. Hundreds of people, including national political leaders who stood together at the memorial, travelled from other towns to show support. Community members held photos of victims as an Indigenous leader sang a prayer. The prime minister expressed sympathy, vowed enduring support, and helped place flowers at the memorial.
