"Flags across the Greater Toronto Area are at half mast as condolences pour in from city hall and Queen's Park in the wake of a mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, B.C., that police say killed nine people and injured at least 25 Tuesday afternoon. An active shooter alert was issued to residents of the rural community which lies 660 kilometres northeast of Vancouver in the foothills of the Rockies at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday and was not lifted until the early evening of that day."
