CN Rail mechanics, clerks vote overwhelmingly to approve strike mandate | CBC News
Briefly

Mechanics and clerks at Canadian National Railway Co. have given an overwhelming strike mandate approval, with 97% of mechanics and 96% of clerks voting in favor, indicating strong dissatisfaction with current working conditions and compensation.
The strike could begin as early as New Year's Day, affecting approximately 3,600 workers who demand better job security, compensation, and working conditions, consequently threatening operations at CN.
Negotiations are set to resume in Montreal soon and will continue through Dec. 8 in an effort to address and potentially resolve the concerns that have led to the strike mandate.
Historically, CN has encountered similar disruptions, as seen in August when operations were halted for days due to a work stoppage that affected 9,300 engineers, mechanics, and yard workers.
