Canadian government moves to end unprecedented rail stoppage
Briefly

The Canadian government has requested the country's industrial relations board to issue a back-to-work order, aimed at resolving the unprecedented rail stoppage involving over 9,000 workers.
Despite the agreement for CN to end its lockout, the Teamsters union has indicated that the stoppage at Canadian Pacific Kansas City will remain in effect until further notice from the CIRB.
Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon expressed optimism that trains would be operational within days while advocating for binding arbitration between the union and the rail companies.
Following the lifting of CN's lockout, a CN spokesperson noted that it could take a week or more to catch up on shipments disrupting Canada's rail freight capacity.
