Canada announces tariffs in response to US ones
Briefly

In response to US tariffs on steel and aluminum, Canada is implementing reciprocal tariffs on US imports worth approximately 29.8 billion CAD. This action expands upon previously enacted 25% counter tariffs on US goods, which were introduced on March 4. The new set of tariffs will hit various US products including computers and sports equipment. Canadian officials emphasize that they will not passively accept unfair trade practices that impact their industries, echoing similar protective stances being adopted by the EU and other nations against US tariffs.
Canada's new tariffs are in addition to its 25% counter tariffs on 30 billion CAD of imports from the US that were put in place on March 4.
We will not stand idly by while our iconic steel and aluminium industries are being unfairly targeted, said Canadian Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc.
