Air traffic audio reveals tense moments before small plane crashed near Toronto high school | CBC News
"City centre, I think I might have an engine failure,"
"Negative."
"Can you find a highway or a street that's not very busy or a park or something?"
A small aircraft departing Orillia en route to Billy Bishop Airport experienced engine failure and could not reach the airport. The operator on board reported the failure to air traffic control and confirmed the plane could not make it to the airport. Air traffic control requested options for a less-busy landing site, then received a final transmission indicating the aircraft was landing in a soccer field with people nearby. Emergency responders searched the last known location around Bloor Street, roughly two kilometres from the Don Valley Parkway. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating; the pilot and two passengers were uninjured.
