'Winter is not over yet': May storm poised to slam California
Briefly

I would call this a late-season storm," said Bob Oravec, a meteorologist with the weather service's Weather Prediction Center. "It doesn't typically occur in May, but it's not unheard of. If we had this in July or August, that would be really anomalous."
When the storm pushes from Oregon into Northern California on Friday night, heavy rain is possible. Del Norte and Humboldt counties could get as much as 0.5 to 1 inch of rain across 6 hours and 1 to 3 inches in 12 to 24 hours, the weather service said.
"Even southern Mendocino and southern Lake will get some rain, perhaps 0.50-1.25 in over 12-24 hours on Saturday," the agency's Eureka office said in its forecast.
"Rainfall will be light to moderate on Saturday, and we're not expecting any thunderstorms, at least not at this time," said Roger Gass, a forecaster with the weather service's Bay Area.
