Wildfire burns on Oroville Dam as 28,000 people evacuate

With temperatures hitting 109 degrees, the Thompson Fire spread to 3,560 acres around Oroville Dam, prompting evacuation of over 28,000 people from Oroville and surrounding areas in Butte County.
More than 1,400 firefighters, eight helicopters, 199 engines, and 46 bulldozers were deployed to battle the blaze, but challenges include low humidity, high temperatures, strong winds, and difficult terrain.
