Brandon Sanders, whose home was destroyed in the Eaton Fire near Los Angeles, expressed disbelief that his 2013 Toyota Tacoma pickup survived the flames. The fire charred over 14,000 acres, devastating homes and vehicles. While the Tacoma's plastic parts melted and the front bumper was fragmented, the engine bay remained intact. Thanks to a local dealership's assistance in making a new key, Sanders was able to start the truck, highlighting a story of unexpected survival amid widespread loss.
I was surprised to see that the truck was standing at all and not a burned-out wreck.
As we got to our house, the amazing thing that we found is that it looked like my truck had mostly survived.
