Voting for Athlete of the Week is permitted online and multiple votes are allowed until polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday; votes by email or after the deadline are not counted. Suspicious activity and use of bots can lead to disqualification and suspension of the poll. Winners are announced each Friday online and in the Mercury News and East Bay Times print sports sections. Nominations for future polls are accepted at highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com by 11 a.m. each Monday, and stats submitted by coaches or statisticians are reviewed. Nominees include Teagan Cooling (53 kills, reached 1,000 career kills), Lucia Forney (274 all-purpose yards, five total scores), and Chloe Gilbert (multiple multi-goal matches).
