Ruben asked one of them to bring a rope, which they tied to the car to help stabilize it. Yvett Bañares-Tala and Ruben Tala were traveling to Lake Tahoe for their annual holiday trip when Ruben noticed a black vehicle sliding off the road. Ruben stopped, put his car in park, and ran out to assist, anchoring himself to the stranded car to communicate with the occupants. The vehicle contained two people and two small dogs. Other motorists stopped to help and tied a rope to stabilize the car. Rescuers extracted the driver and passenger one by one. Yvett called 911 and first responders arrived about 15 to 20 minutes later. Both people were rescued safely with no injuries reported.
