Two teens shot in armed robbery at Santa Rosa Transit Mall, police say
"Officers responded about 6:30 p.m. to multiple reports of a shooting on 500 Second Street and found a 15-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound, with an entry and exit point through his upper shoulder and mid-back, Santa Rosa police Sgt. Patricia Seffens said Monday. The teenager received medical aid and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. At about 6:45 p.m., three other teenagers who were friends with the 15-year-old arrived at the police department on Sonoma Avenue and reported the shooting."
"Based on a preliminary investigation, officers determined that the four teenagers were waiting for a bus at the transit mall when two men in dark clothing and ski masks approached and demanded they hand over their belongings. One of the men held up a gun during the robbery and struck the side of the 15-year-old's head with it before shooting him in the shoulder, police said. Investigators believe the same bullet grazed the 14-year-old's waist."
Two teenagers were shot during an armed robbery at the Santa Rosa Transit Mall on Sunday evening. Officers found a 15-year-old with an entry and exit gunshot wound through his upper shoulder and mid-back; he received medical aid and was taken to a hospital. About 15 minutes later three friends arrived at the police department; a 14-year-old had a minor grazing wound to his waist and was treated and hospitalized briefly. Investigators say two men in dark clothing and ski masks demanded belongings, one struck the 15-year-old with a gun then shot him, and both suspects fled toward Juilliard Park. Police searched the area with a K9 and helicopter, closed the transit mall during the investigation, and requested tips; a community fund is offering up to a $2,500 reward for information.
