"Whale watching doesn't get any better than this," exclaimed Dana Wharf Whale Watch, showcasing two humpback whales breaching together off Southern California, mesmerizing boaters.
"A breach is when a whale propels its body out of the water," stated the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, emphasizing the astonishment of witnessing whale behavior.
"There may be an element of 'fun' to the behavior, or it could serve purposes such as communication," noted Discovery Whale Watch regarding the significance of breaching.
Humpback whales can reach lengths of up to 60 feet and live around 90 years, feeding on krill and small fish, as described by NOAA.
