Storm expected to soak Southern California early next week
""widespread and beneficial,""
""It's certainly early for this time of year and an unusually deep low-pressure system,""
""It's colder and it has the potential of it being strong.""
""remote risk""
An unusually deep early-season low-pressure system will bring a storm to the Los Angeles region with peak impacts on Tuesday. Forecast totals range from 0.5 to 1.5 inches in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, with up to 3 inches in local mountains and hills; San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties could receive 1 to 2 inches, with up to 4 inches in higher terrain. Peak hourly rain rates are expected near 0.10 to 0.33 inch per hour between 3 a.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday. Minor roadway flooding is possible and there is risk of flash flooding and debris flows in burn-scar areas. Thunderstorm chances are 10–20 percent with a remote severe-storm risk. Southwest gusts of 20–40 mph and cooler highs of 60–70 degrees are expected. A single early storm will not be sufficient to move the region out of wildfire season.
