"Now it's been two rebuilds since I've been here,"
"At the root of it, it's not just about football,"
"I made a lot of connections here. I built a nice family here. At the end of the day, it was more about my story, not what everyone else was doing. I always knew I could prevail."
"It's always been one of those things I've been interested in since I can remember."
King'leon Sheard is a 6-foot-2, 220-pound outside linebacker who recorded two sacks in Narbonne's recent game and two sacks in last year's City Section Open Division championship. Narbonne's football program faced probation, playoff bans and player and coach departures that forced multiple rebuilds. Sheard remained with four other holdovers and emphasized the connections and family he built at the school. He maintained academic focus and intends to pursue college and a career in law. His parents allowed him to decide for himself while he kept his head down and stayed determined.
