Several feet of fresh snow blanketed the Sierra, producing soft powder and transformed conditions across Lake Tahoe resorts. Families traveled to Truckee and Tahoe Donner to ski, sled and enjoy blue-sky days after storms and a brief power outage. Skiers experienced vigorous runs, slaloming and a magical winter wonderland on the slopes. Heavenly Ski Resort recorded nearly five feet of snow in a week, reopening many lifts and reversing seasonal conditions. Skiers and snowboarders enjoyed numerous powder days. Resorts increased operations and conditions were ideal for sleds and toboggans for children.
