All three of the earthquakes were centered about 2.5 miles east southeast of San Ramon."
"The third of the three was at a depth of about 5 miles under the Earth's surface and the second one was about 4 miles below the surface. The first quake was about 5 miles below. The quakes add to a long list of them in the area since early November. Before Friday, the most recent of those was a 3.2 earthquake that rattled the area on New Year's Day."

The sequence is part of a swarm of earthquakes in the area since early November, with magnitudes ranging from 0.6 up to 4.0 on Dec. 19, and a 3.2 event on New Year's Day.
