Wildfires have been spreading this week throughout parts of Northern California, the Pacific Northwest, and western Canada, leading to mass evacuations, poor air quality, and immense destruction, with buildings reduced to ashes and hundreds of thousands of acres of land charred.
The Durkee fire, near Oregon's border with Idaho, which had covered more than 268,000 acres by Thursday afternoon, was one of more than 40 fires burning in Oregon and Washington. In Northern California, the Park fire had scorched over 71,400 acres, with a man arrested for allegedly causing the blaze.
