"As she walked through the neighborhood, the girl recounted to local law enforcement that a gray minivan stopped in the roadway before a white man allegedly exited the vehicle and began to chase her. The girl managed to run to safety with friends, causing the man to then return to the minivan and drive away while reportedly also failing to stop at a nearby stop sign."
"The man suspected of engaging in the kidnapping attempt was described as appearing to be between 25-30 years old, with an average build, buzz haircut and wearing a T-shirt with black shorts. The Sheriff's Office has asked anyone that might have witnessed the incident, observed a suspicious gray minivan in the Aptos area or has relevant home surveillance footage to contact its office at 831-471-1121."
A 9-year-old girl in Aptos was the target of an attempted kidnapping Saturday evening near the 600 block of Saint Andrews Drive. A gray minivan stopped in the roadway and a white man exited and allegedly chased the girl, who ran to safety with friends. The suspect returned to the minivan and drove away, reportedly failing to stop at a nearby stop sign. The suspect was described as white, about 25-30 years old, average build, buzz haircut, wearing a T-shirt and black shorts. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office asks witnesses or anyone with surveillance footage to call 831-471-1121.
