San Jose: Two killed in four-vehicle collision Tuesday on Highway 87
"Two people died in a four-vehicle collision Tuesday morning on Highway 87, authorities said. The two victims were an adult and a juvenile, according to a press release from the California Highway Patrol San Jose office. Their names will be publicly released following confirmation of their identities and notification of their next of kin. Emergency responders reported to the scene of the crash, on the northbound side of the highway near Curtner Avenue, at 10:49 a.m., authorities said."
"Upon their arrival, they found that four vehicles were involved in the collision, authorities said. Three of the four involved vehicles two Teslas and a Lexus caught fire. The two deceased victims were passengers in the Lexus, authorities added. The Lexus's driver, as well as the driver of one of the Teslas, suffered unknown injuries and were taken to the hospital."
A four-vehicle collision occurred on northbound Highway 87 near Curtner Avenue at 10:49 a.m. Two people, an adult and a juvenile, died; their identities will be released after confirmation and next-of-kin notification. Three vehicles involved—a Lexus and two Teslas—caught fire. The two deceased were passengers in the Lexus. The Lexus driver and the driver of one Tesla sustained injuries of unknown severity and were taken to the hospital. The Toyota Sienna driver remained at the scene and cooperated. Northbound Highway 87 was closed with traffic diverted onto Curtner Avenue. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors.
