San Jose store sells winning lottery ticket worth $1 million
Briefly

Jess Daniels, a long-time California Lottery player, won $1 million with a $100 million Mega Cash Scratchers ticket purchased on December 19 at the Gateway Food & Liquor Store. His victory was marked by the number 19 appearing repeatedly; it was the winning number, the date of the winning ticket purchase, and a crucial number on the check received on February 19. Previously, Daniels had smaller wins of $1,000 and $25 since the lottery began 40 years ago, and the store where he bought his ticket will get a $5,000 bonus for selling it.
Daniels expressed his excitement, stating, "So check this out, it was Dec. 19, the winning number was No. 19, and the matching number also was 19."
Daniels noted the significance of the number 19, saying, "When I filled out the paperwork, it required a 19-digit number, and on the 19th of February, I received my check."
