CaRonn Patterson, 18, of Rodeo, was charged with felony counts of possessing an assault weapon and having a loaded gun in public, plus a misdemeanor hit-and-run. He pleaded not guilty and was released after posting $50,000 bail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled in March. San Leandro police say an officer fired at Patterson during a Jan. 19 foot chase after he turned toward the officer holding a rifle; no one was hit and Patterson was arrested after running and crashing. Police cited probable cause to suspect assaulting an officer, but prosecutors have not filed that charge. Body camera footage has not been released. Patterson has prior arrests this year, including November and a Placer County incident involving alleged gun possession.
