Rosalind Diamond was born in New York in 1930 and later moved to San Francisco and Los Angeles during the Great Depression. She attended UC Berkeley, earning a degree in English, and later a teaching credential. Diamond taught fourth grade and became involved in alternative healing through the Esalen Project. She founded the Institute for Humanistic Medicine, which published books and papers promoting innovative medical approaches. After her divorce, she earned a master's degree while continuing to inspire others with her work in education and healing.
Rosalind Diamond's family moved from New York to San Francisco and finally Los Angeles during the Great Depression after her father lost his drugstore.
During her time at UC Berkeley, Rosalind Diamond majored in English while commuting back from San Francisco, where her husband attended medical school.
After her husband's military service, the family settled in Park Merced, where Rosalind continued to raise her daughters before moving to Berkeley.
Rosalind Diamond, co-founder of the Institute for Humanistic Medicine, explored alternative healing modalities and contributed to new approaches in medical care.
