Pruneyard Cinemas in Campbell announces it's closing after seven years
"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closing of Pruneyard Cinemas and Cedar Room this coming January 25, an announcement on the theater's website reads. This decision has not come easily, and it reflects the challenges we have faced over the years. We have navigated through the difficulties of the pandemic, the writer and actor strikes, and most recently, the rising costs that have made it unsustainable for us to continue."

Pruneyard Cinemas in the Campbell shopping center will permanently close on Jan. 25 after eight years of operation. The Cedar Room bar and restaurant attached to the theater will also close. The decision follows financial pressures from the COVID-19 pandemic, writer and actor strikes, and recent rising costs that made continued operation unsustainable. The venue hosted specialty programs including Culinary Cinema, which paired classic films with three-course dinners, and hosted events like the Epics Film Festival with high-resolution 4K screenings. The theater also featured outdoor dining and served community movie-goers for nearly a decade.
