"Monterey police are investigating after a four-door sedan drove into the water at the Coast Guard Pier boat launch ramp early Sunday morning. Officers arrived at the scene around 2:03 a.m. on Sunday, after receiving reports about a vehicle submerged in the water. When officers arrived, they found the sedan fully underwater and resting on its roof. The vehicle was unoccupied."
"Surveillance footage from the area shows the car driving through the parking lot at a high speed before going down the boat launch ramp and into the water. The vehicle floated briefly before sinking. Police said the identity of the driver and the cause of the incident remain under investigation. Officers contacted the registered owner of the vehicle and determined they were not involved. The car had not been reported stolen."
