Pick axe and tire iron used in wild $1 million Bay Area robbery
"Multiple people wearing masks and brandishing handguns ran into Heller Jewelers at the City Center Bishop Ranch shopping mall at 6000 Bollinger Canyon Road at around 1:50 p.m. Footage from the scene shows the robbers using tools, including a hammer, a tire iron and a pick axe, to smash glass countertops so they could pull out merchandise in a "takeover-style armed robbery," according to police."
"Cellphone footage shared on social media shows the robbers firing through the glass entrance after the doors locked behind them. San Ramon police confirmed at least one shot was fired through the glass doors. Helicopters were used to track the robbers fleeing the store after officers stopped pursuit of their vehicles due to safety concerns. Of the estimated 25 to 30 individuals involved, seven people have been arrested, including one juvenile suspect, San Ramon Police Department spokesperson Ashley Moore said in an emailed statement."
