A woman believed to be in her 80s and an Oakland resident was struck by a box truck while walking westbound in a marked crosswalk at the Broadway and Eighth Street intersection. The collision occurred about 8:45 a.m. Thursday, a block from police headquarters. The truck was turning from westbound Eighth Street onto southbound Broadway when it struck the pedestrian. The woman was transported to a hospital and later died from her injuries. The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Authorities were trying to confirm the woman's name.
