A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on northbound Interstate 280 early Friday morning. The collision occurred around 4:55 a.m., just south of state Highway 17. Witnesses reported the pedestrian was walking along the freeway at the time of the incident. Following the crash, the pedestrian was found down in the HOV lane and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver involved stopped and remained at the scene. To facilitate an investigation, authorities closed the far left two lanes of the freeway, which remained closed until after 6:30 a.m.
