The results from the California Department of Water Resources survey show an improvement for the Sierra Nevada snowpack.
"While we are in a much better position today than we were a month or two ago, the snowpack is only at 70% of average for the April 1 peak," said Angelique Fabbiani-Leon, a hydrometeorologist with the department.
